How to make Crispy Fried Taro Snacks

  • Cutting taro

    After purchasing, peel the taro, wash it clean, slice it thinly, then rinse again with water and let it drain.

    Tip: The thinner you cut the taro, the crispier and tastier it will be.

  • Mixing the batter

    Put 100g of flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, 1 teaspoon of chili powder, and 1 teaspoon of minced garlic into a bowl and mix well.

    Add the taro into the bowl with the flour, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and shake well so that the taro is evenly coated with flour and absorbs the seasoning.

    Heat a pan on the stove and add oil, when the oil is hot, add the taro to fry. Fry until the taro is golden, crispy, and fragrant, then take it out onto a plate lined with absorbent paper.

    Wash the taro thoroughly, peel it, and use a wavy knife to cut it into strips, then wash it again and let it drain.

    Put a pan on the stove, add 200ml of oil, and when the oil is hot, add the taro to fry until golden brown, then remove and let it drain.

How to Choose Delicious and Soft Taro

  • Choose medium-sized taro that is not too big or too small, as it will be softer, more fragrant, and sweeter when eaten.

How to prepare taro without itching

  • Leave the layer of dirt on the taro skin, then use dry hands to peel the skin. After that, soak the taro in diluted salt water for 10 minutes before processing.
  • Note that during the soaking process, you should not put your hands directly into the taro.
  • Wear gloves to peel the skin.
  • If you accidentally get itchy from peeling taro, you can hold your hands over the fire, soak your hands in salt water mixed with lemon juice, or crush green banana leaves and apply them to the itchy area for about 10 minutes to reduce itching!
