How to Make Vietnamese-Style Hotdog Buns

  • Prepare the batter mixture

Separate 4 chicken eggs, keeping the egg whites and yolks apart. Then, in a bowl, add the 4 egg whites, add 5g of salt, and use a mixer to beat the egg whites until they are frothy, but not stiff.

Next, add the 4 egg yolks to the bowl of egg whites and continue to use the mixer to blend the mixture on low speed until well combined.

Add 20ml of unsweetened milk, 20ml of cooking oil, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 70g of sugar to the egg mixture. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Gradually sift the flour into the egg mixture, continuing to use the mixer to ensure all ingredients are well combined.

  • Prepare the filling ingredients

Peel the sausages and cheese, then cut them into small dice.

Step 2 Prepare the filling ingredients for Vietnamese-Style Hotdog Buns
  • Making hotdog buns with a non-stick pan

Turn on the stove to heat the non-stick pan, add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan, and use chopsticks to move the butter around until it melts evenly throughout the pan. Once the butter has completely melted, use a paper towel to soak up and remove the layer of butter.

Use a large spoon to scoop 1 spoonful of batter into the pan, quickly arrange the sausage, cheese, shredded pork, and pâté in the center of the batter. Depending on how much filling you want, you can adjust the ingredients added to the bun.

Scoop another spoonful of batter and pour it evenly over the filling to ensure the bun is round and beautiful. Wait for the bun to cook for about 1 minute, then flip it over and wait another minute for the other side to cook deliciously.
