How to choose fresh and delicious pork

  • You should choose cuts of meat that have both lean and fat, as they will be more fragrant and delicious when cooked.
  • The meat should have a natural color and smell. Gently press on the pork with your hand; if it has good elasticity, it is fresh pork.
  • Avoid purchasing pieces of meat that have an unusual smell, as these may be old, spoiled, or pieces that are mushy or leaking, which will not be fragrant and tasty when cooked.
  • You can buy pork at the store and ask to have it ground, or buy the meat home and grind it yourself using a meat grinder.

How to choose fresh and delicious tomatoes

  • It is best to choose tomatoes that are bright red and evenly colored, with a firm and plump skin and a natural fragrance.
  • Prioritize selecting tomatoes with green stems that are tightly attached to the fruit; these are the freshest and best tomatoes.
  • Avoid buying tomatoes that are ripe without any fragrance or those that are scratched or bruised.

  • Boil cabbage and chives

Prepare a large pot of water and add 1 teaspoon of salt so that the vegetables will be greener when boiled.

When the water is boiling, add the chive leaves to blanch first, leave them for about 30 seconds, then take them out. After that, add the cabbage and blanch for about 1 minute. When you see the top of the cabbage starting to wilt, you can remove it and let it drain.

After boiling, cut off the hard part in the middle of the cabbage to make it easier to roll; for large cabbage leaves, you can cut them in half.

Add the seasoned ground pork in the middle of the leaf and start rolling.

When rolling, gently fold the edges on both sides in so that the meat does not fall out during cooking. After rolling, use the chive leaves to tie them up.

Do the same for the remaining cabbage rolls until all ingredients are used up.

Tip: When rolling the cabbage leaves, you should place the outer side of the leaf down to make it easier to roll.

Then stir well and let the tomato sauce cook on the stove for about 15 minutes over medium heat. At this step, you can add 1/2 cup of water (rice bowl) to the sauce to prevent it from being too thick.
