How to Prepare Steamed Snakehead Fish with Onions

  • Prepare and Marinate the Fish

    Prepare the snakehead fish as instructed at the beginning, then remove the intestines and clean the scales. After that, use a knife to make a few cuts along the body of the fish.

    Put the fish into a large bowl, then add a few shallots, a little soy sauce, a bit of oyster sauce, seasoning, and pepper. Marinate the fish for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.

    Prepare a bowl of water, soak the wood ear mushrooms and rice noodles until soft. Then cut the mushrooms into strips.

Fresh snakehead fish have small anuses; if you choose fish with enlarged anuses, it means the fish has been around for too long, decomposed, and treated with many preservatives that negatively affect health.
