Ingredients for Red Bean Jelly For 2 people

Red beans 400 g Sugar 200 g Agar jelly powder 5 g Boiling water 1 liter

How to choose good quality red beans

  • Choose beans that are bright red, free from pests, and show no signs of mold or unpleasant odors.
  • Select beans of moderate size for a soft texture and delicious flavor after cooking.
  • Avoid choosing beans that are too large, as these are often not tasty, contain fewer nutrients than smaller beans, and can create a slight astringent taste when eaten.

Utensils: rice cooker, large bowl, sieve, mixing stick, gas stove, pot, cloth bag, whisk, rectangular mold.

How to make Red Bean Jelly Cake

  • Cook the red beans

    To prepare for cooking the red beans, soak 400g of beans in water for 6 hours so that they can cook faster and easier.

    After soaking, put the beans into the rice cooker along with 1 liter of water. Then, cook the beans for 1 – 2 hours until they are soft.

  • Strain the bean water

    Place the beans in a sieve over a large bowl, and use a spoon to press the beans down firmly and evenly so that all the bean water drains into the bowl.

    After filtering with the sieve, pour the bean water into a cloth bag and squeeze once more to completely separate the bean water from the bean residue.

    Turn on the stove, add the soybean residue to the pot and cook with 200g of sugar, 5g of agar powder, and all the soybean water. Use a whisk to mix the mixture over medium heat.

    Once the mixture is uniform, pour it into a mold and use a spoon to smooth it out evenly. Place the jelly in the refrigerator for 2 hours to set.
