Ingredients for Fig Jam For 4 people
Figs 500 gr Honey 60 ml Lemon juice 2 tablespoons Sugar 200 gr
How to choose fresh and delicious figs
- You should choose figs that are medium-sized, bright and attractive in color, with a shiny outer skin that is not scratched.
- Choose figs that feel firm in hand, of a certain weight, not too light, and when pressed should feel like an egg, not soft.
- Do not choose large figs that feel light in hand, have wrinkled skin, are dried out or leaking juice, as these indicate the figs have been stored too long and are no longer fresh.
How to Make Fig Jam
-
Prepare the figs
Wash the figs 2 – 3 times with water, then cut each fig into small pieces and drain. Next, place the cut figs into a pot along with 200gr of sugar and 60ml of honey, mixing well to combine the figs with the ingredients.
-
Make the fig jam
Place a pot on the stove and cook on low heat, stirring constantly for about 20 – 30 minutes. When the sugar thickens slightly and has a firm texture, add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, and continue cooking until the figs are soft and infused with flavor as desired. You can adjust the ingredients according to your taste!
-
Final Product
The fig jam has an eye-catching reddish-brown color, with a strong, distinctive aroma of figs and honey, perfectly complemented by the subtle scent of fresh lemon that is incredibly alluring.
The chewy, sweet fig jam is a unique treat that can be used to make beverages or spread on bread for a delicious breakfast. Once cooled, the jam can be stored in a sealed jar in the fridge refrigerator for a long time. Enjoy your meal!
