Ingredients for Strawberry Wine For 1 Jar
Strawberries 300 gr Rock sugar 100 gr Sticky rice wine 300 ml (35-40 degrees) Baking soda 1 teaspoon
How to choose ingredients
How to choose good strawberries:
- Fresh strawberries are usually bright red, plump, and have no green spots, with intact green leaves and calyx. The distance between the calyx and the fruit is far apart.
- Ripe strawberries often have a very attractive fragrance, so if you bring it to your nose and do not smell anything or only a faint scent, you should skip those fruits.
- You should not buy fruits with dry or yellow calyx, as they may have been on sale for a long time, possibly even spoiling.
- Avoid round and unusually sized strawberries, as these are likely treated with growth hormones.
How to choose good wine:
- You should choose wines with a strong aroma and moderate alcohol content because when soaking, the wine will continue to ferment.
- Avoid buying wines that are crystal clear, as they may have been mixed with impurities or industrial alcohol.
- Skip wines that have a pungent and unpleasant smell; these are wines that have spoiled during fermentation or have been made with Chinese yeast.

How to make Strawberry Wine
-
Prepare the strawberries
After buying the strawberries, soak them in water with 1 teaspoon of baking soda dissolved for 5 – 10 minutes to remove any chemicals still clinging to the surface of the fruit.
After soaking, rinse the strawberries with clean water until they feel no sliminess when touched. Next, let them drain.
-
Cut the strawberries
Once the strawberries are drained, we cut off the green stems and divide the strawberries into 2 or 4 equal parts depending on their size.
-
Soaking Strawberry Wine
Arrange the cut strawberry pieces in a jar to create a base layer at the bottom of the jar. Next, add a layer of rock sugar into the jar. Continue to alternate layers of strawberries and rock sugar with the remaining strawberries and sugar.
Once completed, pour the wine into the jar until it just covers the strawberries. Soak at room temperature for about 1 to 1.5 months before it can be enjoyed.
Note:
- You should choose a jar or container with a larger capacity than the amount of strawberries used for soaking, as the strawberries will release more water during the soaking process.
- To speed up the soaking process, you should crush the rock sugar before adding it to the jar.
- It is advisable to label and note the date of soaking in the wine jar to determine when the strawberry wine can be enjoyed.
- Avoid consuming it before the wine is ready, as it may not taste good at that time.
-
Final Product
The strawberry wine is delicious, with a light sweetness from the rock sugar and strawberries blended with a hint of spiciness and fragrance from the glutinous rice wine.
This is indeed a suitable drink to refresh on hot summer days. You can also use strawberry wine to entertain guests or friends whenever they come to your home. Wishing you success!
