How to choose fresh and delicious beef
- For this dish, you can use pork instead of beef if you like. However, do not substitute with chicken as it will make the filling dry and lacking the fatty, delicious taste.
- You can buy pre-ground beef or buy beef and chop it yourself.
- Choose pieces of meat that are bright red, with fine, smooth fibers, fragrant with the characteristic smell of beef, and the fat should be light yellow and not sticky when pressed with your hand, with good elasticity.
- If the meat has grains like rice inside the fibers, it is very likely to be tapeworms, and you should absolutely not buy it.
- Do not choose beef that is slimy, has a foul smell, lacks elasticity, or has dark spots, or parts that are pale green. This could be beef that has been stored for a long time, or from a dead or sick cow.
- It is better to buy a whole large piece of meat; do not buy pre-sliced meat as it is difficult to distinguish fresh and good quality meat.

Mix the dough
Add 150g of flour, 10g of cornstarch, a little salt, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder into a bowl and mix the ingredients well. Then add 1 teaspoon of cooking oil and 130ml of water and mix thoroughly.
When the dough has come together, knead the dough by hand for 10 – 15 minutes until it is smooth and no longer sticky.
Cover the dough tightly with plastic wrap (or a pot lid) and let it rise for 30 minutes to allow the dough to expand.
-
Prepare the filling ingredients
Marinate the ground beef with 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of seasoning powder, and 1 teaspoon of soy sauce, mixing the meat mixture well and letting it soak in the spices for 15 – 20 minutes.
Onion, wash clean, peel and dice, minced garlic. Cucumber, lettuce, and tomato sliced to bite size.
Tip: To make the meat more fragrant, you can add 1 teaspoon of sesame oil to the meat.
-
Stir-fry the filling
Put a pan on the stove, add 1 teaspoon of cooking oil to sauté the garlic, then add the onion and beef, stir-frying on high heat until the beef is browned.
-
Rolling and shaping the dough
Lay a sheet of parchment paper on the table, sprinkle flour on top and divide the dough into 2 parts. Roll each piece of dough thin and cut into round shapes for the tacos.
-
Frying the taco
Add 1 teaspoon of cooking oil to the pan, then place the taco in, cover it for about 2 minutes, then flip it and continue to grill for another 2 minutes.
-
Stuffing the taco
Place the taco on a plate, first add cucumber, tomato, lettuce on top, then beef, cheese, a little cilantro, and finally add chili sauce and mayonnaise. Fold the taco in half and the Taco is ready.
