How to choose fresh and delicious ingredients
How to choose good quality coffee
- Good coffee powder is usually pure coffee powder, made from roasted coffee beans without mixing other ingredients. Properly made coffee powder will have low moisture content, thus it will not clump together, and when touched by hand, it will feel dry and fluffy.
- Pure coffee, when roasted and ground correctly, will produce coffee powder that is dark brown with a characteristic aroma. If corn is used to fake coffee, the ground powder will be dark black, while soybeans will produce a dark brown or cloudy yellow color.
- When brewing coffee with hot water, if it is real coffee, the powder will swell, bubble, and sometimes overflow from the filter. In contrast, mixed coffee will sink down and emit an aroma; however, this aroma is mostly from flavoring agents.
- You should not choose coffee that produces a thick, dark black liquid when brewed, as this indicates coffee that has been mixed with roasted beans or corn.
How to choose pure, standard cocoa powder
- You should choose pure cocoa powder that has a rich, uniform color and is quite fresh. In contrast, mixed cocoa powder usually has a reddish-brown, light brown color, pale and non-fresh appearance, with light white specks due to filler powder.
- Pure cocoa powder will have a bitter taste when consumed, while mixed cocoa powders will have a fragrant taste and a light sweetness, without a strong cocoa aroma.
- If you smell chocolate, vanilla, or milk when purchasing cocoa powder, you should not buy it, as this indicates the cocoa powder has been mixed with other ingredients and is no longer pure.

Coffee filter, spoon, pot, glass, whisk
How to Make Cocoa Coffee
-
Brewing Coffee
Use a spoon to scoop 10g of coffee powder into the filter and press it down gently. Pour 10ml of hot water in to let the coffee bloom for about 30 seconds. Then add 40ml of hot water, cover the filter, and wait for the coffee to extract all the liquid.
Once the coffee has finished extracting, remove the filter from the glass.
-
Prepare the cocoa milk mixture
Add 20g of white sugar, 10g of pure cocoa powder, and 120ml of unsweetened fresh milk into a pot.
Then place the pot on the stove and cook over low heat, using a whisk to stir continuously until the cocoa milk mixture reaches a gentle boil, then turn off the heat.
-
Final product
Pour the cocoa milk into a glass of coffee, add marshmallow candies and a bit of chocolate sauce on top for a nice presentation, and enjoy while it’s still hot.
A steaming cup of cocoa coffee with a fragrant aroma, the characteristic bitterness of coffee combined with cocoa and a hint of sweetness from the milk sugar will help you feel alert and more flexible!
