Ingredients for Bone soup with potatoes and carrots For 4 people

Pork bones 300 gr Potatoes 3 tubers Carrots 2 tubers Green onions 2 stalks Cilantro 1 stalk Shallots 2 bulbs (chopped) Cooking oil 1/2 tablespoon Common seasoning A little (salt/ seasoning powder/ monosodium glutamate/ ground pepper)

How to cook Bone broth with potatoes and carrots

  • Prepare and marinate the bones

    To remove the odor of pork bones, after buying them, you rinse them briefly and then soak the pork bones in diluted salt water for 15 minutes.

    After that, take the pork bones out, rinse them with clean water, and let them drain. Marinate the pork bones with minced shallots, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of seasoning powder, and 1 teaspoon of stock powder. Let it sit for about 30 minutes for the bones to absorb the spices.

    Peel the potatoes and carrots, wash them clean, and cut them into bite-sized pieces.

    Chop the green onions and cilantro, removing the roots, wash them clean, and cut them small.

  • Cooking Soup

    Place a pot on the stove, add 1/2 tablespoon of cooking oil into the pot. When the oil is hot, add all the marinated bones, stir-fry for about 2 minutes until the bones are firm.

    Add 1.5 liters of water to the pot, cover it, and bring it to a boil. When the water boils, skim off the foam and reduce the heat to low, simmer the bones for about 20 minutes.

    After 20 minutes, add potatoes, carrots, along with 1/2 tablespoon of seasoning, and 1 teaspoon of salt to the pot.

    Cook for another 10 minutes, when the ingredients are soft, add chopped green onions and cilantro, season to taste and turn off the heat.

    Scoop the soup into a bowl, sprinkle some ground pepper for extra aroma and it’s ready to enjoy.

    Wash the pork bones and put them into an pot, simmering with 1.5 liters of water, 2 shallots, and 1 teaspoon of salt. During the simmering process, keep the heat low and regularly skim off the foam to keep the water clear.

    Simmer for about 30 minutes, then add the beans and simmer together until both the beans and bones are soft. Season with 1/2 teaspoon of seasoning powder and 1/4 teaspoon of monosodium glutamate.

  • Cooking the soup

    Once the beans are really soft, add the potatoes. Cook for an additional 15 – 20 minutes, checking the potatoes; if they are cooked, turn off the heat. Sprinkle some chopped green onions on top. Adjust the seasoning to taste.

How to Clean Pork Bones to Avoid Odor

  • To prevent the pork bones from smelling, after cutting them into bite-sized pieces, you should rub the bones with vinegar and a little crushed ginger for about 5 minutes, then rinse with water and let them dry.
  • You can also soak the bones in rice water for 15 – 20 minutes, then take them out, wash them clean with water, and let them dry before cooking.
  • Additionally, when blanching the pork bones, you can add a few slices of thinly cut ginger and a bit of white wine to the pot. Ginger and white wine will effectively help eliminate the odor of the bones.
