How to Make Dried Fruit Using an Air Fryer
-
Wash the Fruit
Use salt to scrub the skin to remove the waxy layer used for preserving the outer skin of the fruit.
Fill a bowl with water and add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to help remove pesticide residues on the fruit. Soak for 30 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with water.
-
Cut the Fruit
Cut the fruit into thin slices that are easy to eat.
-
Dried Various Fruits
Line the bottom of the air fryer with a layer of parchment paper.
Arrange the fruit in layers in the fryer. Set the temperature to 100 degrees Celsius and dry for 3 – 4 hours.
Every hour, take it out and change the positions of the layers to ensure even drying of the fruit.
After 3 – 4 hours, remove the fruit from the fryer to cool and store it in a jar for preservation.
-
Final product
The dried fruits have an attractive color and still retain the characteristic aroma of each type.
Dried fruits can be eaten directly, used for cake decoration, or brewed for tea.
Note: You can use any type of fruit you like, such as pineapple, pear,….
One note when drying fruits using an air fryer:
- The thinner the fruit slices, the shorter the drying time.
- The shelf life of dried fruits is relatively high, about 6 months if kept in an airtight container and stored in a cool place or in the refrigerator.
- Dried fruits made with an air fryer are often used for cake decoration or drinks like tea, soda,… or for snacking. If used for making detox water, it is better to dry the fruits using a freeze dryer to retain more nutrients.
