How to Make Vegetarian Green Bean Cake
-
Prepare Ingredients
Soak the split green beans in warm water for about 60 minutes, then steam them until cooked. After steaming, mash the green beans until smooth.
Tip:- Mash the green beans while they are still hot for easier and quicker mashing.
- If you want a richer cake, you can cook the green beans with coconut milk.
Cut the tofu into small strips and then mince it, adding it to the bowl of mung beans. Boil the tofu until cooked, then drain it and mash it before adding it to the bowl. Chop the cilantro finely and mince the hot pepper, then add them to the bowl of beans. You can adjust the amount of chili according to your family’s taste.
-
Mix and season the ingredients
Add seasoning and 100g of crispy flour into a bowl, then knead the mixture of tofu, mung beans, and chili until it becomes a smooth and cohesive mixture.
-
Shape and fry the cake
Use a spoon to scoop a little of the mixture to fill the spoon and shape the mung bean balls.
Pour oil into the pan and heat it, then drop the mung bean balls into the oil and fry until golden brown, then remove.
Tip: If you have children at home or for special parties, you can buy plastic or stainless steel molds in various shapes to create attractive designs for the dish. -
Final Product
The final product is crispy and delicious green bean patties. The rich flavor of mung beans combined with the light aroma of cilantro and chili creates very appealing green bean patties.
- After frying, let the green bean patties drain and cool completely, then place them in a food storage container or seal them in a bag.
- Homemade patties have a short shelf life of 1 – 2 days. If stored for a longer time, you can keep them in the refrigerator; however, this will cause the patties to lose their crispiness from the fried outer layer, and the aroma will not be as good.
With the delicious and simple way to make green bean patties on TasteVN, we hope you will succeed with your dish!
