Bitter melon (or bitter gourd) is what?
It is a type of fruit that is very rich in vitamins and minerals such as protein, lipids, carbohydrates, calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron… Bitter melon contains a lot of vitamin C with a content of about 120 mg, much higher than strawberries (80 mg) and lemons (90 mg). The fiber in bitter melon helps food to be digested easily, prevents digestive diseases, and cools the body.
Tips for successfully stir-frying bitter gourd:
-
Choose clean bitter gourds that are not spoiled and do not cut them too thick. During cooking, you must stir evenly and quickly; it is best to use a flat-bottomed pan so that the bitter gourd can be spread evenly.
-
Do not stir-fry bitter gourd too much as it will become mushy and lose the green color of the bitter gourd.
- You should stir-fry the beef first and the bitter gourd later, as this will ensure the deliciousness of the beef, preventing it from being tough and hard to eat, and the bitter gourd will retain its delicious flavor, not turning yellow and cooking just right.
