How to Distinguish Mint and Vietnamese Balm

  • The easiest way to distinguish them is by their fragrance. Mint has a strong and cool spicy scent, while Vietnamese balm has a slightly lighter fragrance and a moderate spicy taste, not too overpowering.
  • Next, mint leaves are oval-shaped, with serrated edges and fine hairs on both sides.
  • In contrast, Vietnamese balm leaves appear longer and have serrated edges, but they are smaller than mint. Notably, Vietnamese balm does not have fine hairs on the leaf surface.

  • Prepare the ingredients

    First, pick the mint leaves, wash them clean, and soak them in hot water for 10 minutes.

    Peel the ginger, wash it, and cut it into small pieces.

    Next, add all the chopped ginger into the mortar, add about 100ml of water, and blend until smooth.
