How to prepare Cheese-stuffed Rice Cake Skewers

  • Boil the rice cakes

    Place a pot of water on the stove over medium heat. While waiting for the water to boil, separate each rice cake stick to make boiling easier. When the water boils, add the rice cakes and boil for about 1 minute, just until slightly soft, then quickly remove and place them in a bowl of water (at room temperature).

    Next, use a paper towel (the durable type) to absorb the excess water from the rice cake sticks.

    Finally, cut them into bite-sized pieces.

  • Assemble the rice cake skewers

    After removing the packaging from the Mozzarella cheese, cut it into pieces the same length as the rice cakes.

    Then, use a skewer to alternate between the rice cake and cheese.

  • Fried rice cakes

    Place a non-stick pan on the stove over medium heat, once the pan is hot, reduce the heat to low and melt 10g of unsalted butter.

    Then, place the cheese rice cake skewers in the pan and fry for about 1 minute, then flip to the other side. Fry until the rice cake pieces are slightly golden and the cheese does not completely melt out.

How to Make Spicy Grilled Rice Cake Skewers

  • Boil the rice cakes and make the sauce

    First, cut the rice cakes into pieces about 3cm long (if you buy pre-cut rice cakes, skip this step).

    Then, place the rice cakes into boiling water, boil until cooked, and take them out to place in a bowl of water to prevent sticking.

    Meanwhile, gradually add 30gr of Korean chili sauce, 30ml of soy sauce, 10gr of sugar, and 30ml of honey, mixing well in a bowl.
