How to choose fresh and delicious pumpkin
- A good, ripe pumpkin will have a hard outer skin, not deformed or bruised. When you lift the pumpkin, it feels solid and heavy, which indicates it’s dense and has fewer seeds.
- Choose a pumpkin with a fresh stem, about 2cm long, as it will last longer.
- Do not buy if the pumpkin has a soft skin, and if cut open, the flesh is mushy and shows signs of rot.

How to make Pumpkin Che with fresh milk and tapioca pearls
-
Prepare the ingredients
First, rinse the tapioca pearls clean and soak them in water for about 15 minutes.
After rinsing the pumpkin, cut it into bite-sized cubes, about 2cm x 2cm.
Next, pour the milk into a glass, then add about 4 to 5 tablespoons of sugar and stir until dissolved.
-
Cook the che
We pour water into a pot and then add the pumpkin to cook, making sure to keep the heat medium and not too high.
Because pumpkin cooks quite quickly, after the pumpkin boils for about 10 minutes, you should add the tapioca pearls.
Cook until the tapioca pearls turn translucent, then add the milk into the pot and gently shake to mix the milk evenly and allow the pumpkin to absorb the sweetness.
You should not use chopsticks or a spoon to stir because the pumpkin is quite soft and can easily break apart. After about 2 minutes, taste and adjust the seasoning to your liking, then scoop the che into bowls.
