How to choose fresh and delicious ingredients
How to choose fresh, juicy grapefruit
- It is best to choose grapefruits that have shiny, plump skin, with a yellow hue; when held, they should feel heavy, and the skin should still be fresh, not dry.
- Good quality grapefruit has a small stem, a flat bottom, and when you tap the skin, it makes a “pop pop” sound.
- Avoid selecting grapefruits with small, thick bumps, as this indicates under-ripeness, with less pulp, resulting in smaller and sour segments.
How to choose fresh, juicy tomatoes
- Choose tomatoes with bright red skin, even color, plump, intact, and without scratches.
- Fresh and delicious tomatoes will have a light, pleasant aroma, with green stems firmly attached to the fruit; when cut, you will see golden seeds.
- Avoid buying tomatoes with green seeds, no aroma, wilted or detached stems, as these are low-quality tomatoes.

How to make Grapefruit Tomato Juice
-
Prepare grapefruit and tomatoes
After purchasing the grapefruit, use a knife to peel off the skin and the white pith. Then, separate the grapefruit into segments, remove the membrane surrounding them, discard the seeds to prevent bitterness in the juice, and break the segments into smaller pieces.
Tip:- For grapefruit segments that are difficult to peel, lightly cut close to the flesh at the bottom, then separate the membrane on both sides for easier peeling.
- You can keep the unused parts like grapefruit seeds, peel, and pith to extract essential oils, wash hair, make desserts,…
Wash the tomatoes with water and let them drain. Next, remove the core and stem, and cut the tomatoes into wedges.
To preserve the color and flavor of the juice, marinate the grapefruit and tomatoes with 1 tablespoon of sugar. Then, place all the marinated ingredients in the refrigerator for about 5 – 10 minutes.
