Ingredients for Honey jelly Serves 4 people
Honey 200 gr Water 40 gr Agar powder 2 gr
Tips for buying honey
- When buying honey, pay attention to choose bottles of honey with a uniform color. If the honey jar has sediment, with dark and light spots, it is highly likely that the honey has been mixed.
- You can test to identify if the honey you bought is real or fake by dropping a few drops of honey into a glass of water. If the honey does not dissolve and sinks to the bottom, congratulations, you have purchased pure honey. If the honey dissolves in water, then it is fake honey, mixed with sugar or other sweeteners.
How to make Honey jelly
-
Stir the Agar jelly powder mixture
First, add 2g of agar jelly powder to 40g of water and mix well.
Place the mixture on the stove and heat over low heat until it simmers, when you see small bubbles, turn off the heat.
-
Cook the honey jelly mixture
Add 200g of honey to the jelly mixture you just cooked, stir well.
Note: Pay attention to the thickness/thinness of the mixture as it affects the final product. It is best to use honey with a thickness similar to the picture. -
Pour into molds
Finally, pour the honey jelly mixture into molds or jars of your desired shape. Then place in the refrigerator to let the jelly set.
Note:
- Let the jelly mixture cool completely before placing it in the refrigerator.
- The setting time of the jelly depends on the thickness-thinness of the honey. The best time for the jelly to set is overnight.
-
Finished Product
The honey jelly after completion will have a soft and chewy texture like butter, with the characteristic sweet taste of honey. This honey jelly is often served with bread or various pastries like pancakes, waffles,…
Tips for Successful Execution
- The firmness of the jelly depends on the type and thickness of the honey. Therefore, if your jelly is too runny or does not set after cooking, you can add 2 grams of agar powder with 15 grams of water, boil the mixture again, and let it cool in the refrigerator overnight.
How to Store Jelly
- Homemade jellies after pouring into molds can be covered tightly with plastic wrap and placed in the refrigerator, to be consumed within 10 – 15 days.
- When storing jelly in the refrigerator, you should not place it near fresh or strongly scented foods, as they can affect the flavor and quality of the jelly.
