Ingredients for Sticky Rice with Lotus Seeds and Pandan Leaves For 3 people
Glutinous rice 300 gr Dried lotus seeds 100 gr Pandan leaves 10 leaves Salt 1/4 teaspoon Coconut milk 2 teaspoons Sugar 2 tablespoons
How to choose good glutinous rice for sticky rice:
- Good glutinous rice grains usually have a uniform large size. The outside is shiny, the grains are not broken, not dusty, and have a yellow color. They have a natural, distinctive aroma.
- The best type of glutinous rice for making sticky rice is the goose glutinous rice – it has long, large grains that look like small goose eggs, milky white color, with a natural, light fragrance. When cooked, it expands moderately, is very sticky, soft, and fragrant. And particularly, the sticky rice remains deliciously sticky after cooling.
- If you don’t have goose glutinous rice, you can use other good types of glutinous rice such as wild glutinous rice, velvet glutinous rice, yellow flower glutinous rice, or other types of glutinous rice as well. However, depending on the type of glutinous rice, the flavor of the sticky rice will vary.

Prepare the Ingredients
Pandan leaves are cleaned, chopped, then blended with 300ml of water until smooth. After that, use a sieve to extract the pandan juice.

Dried lotus seeds are soaked in water for 3 hours to soften, then drained and washed. Prepare a pot of boiling water, add the lotus seeds, and boil for 15 minutes until soft, then remove.

Steam the Sticky Rice
After soaking, drain the sticky rice, add the boiled lotus seeds to the rice bowl, sprinkle in 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 2 teaspoons of coconut milk, and mix well.
Prepare a pot of boiling water for steaming the rice, and place the remaining cleaned pandan leaves in the steaming water. Add the sticky rice to the steamer and create round holes as shown for better steaming.
