How to choose fresh, delicious longan with thick flesh
- Choose longan varieties with thick flesh and small seeds, such as Langdong longan, thin-skinned longan,… to enhance the dish’s flavor.
- It’s best to buy longan in clusters, with green leaves, fresh stems, and slightly moist. Additionally, select large fruits that are dark yellow and have a pleasant, light fragrance.
- To ensure you’re choosing good longan, you should taste one before purchasing. When peeling, if the longan has thick, juicy flesh, small seeds, and a sweet flavor reminiscent of rock sugar, then it is definitely fresh longan.
What is chia seed?
- Chia seeds are the seeds of the Salvia Hispaniola plant, which belongs to the same family as herbs like mint and basil, and they originate from southern Mexico, Guatemala, and Bolivia. These seeds are usually white or black, oval-shaped, and of medium size. When soaked, chia seeds expand and form a jelly-like coating.
- Unlike chia seeds, basil seeds are the seeds of the Occimum gratissimum plant, which are solid black and as small as sesame seeds. When soaked, these seeds are smoother, separate more easily, and do not stick together when immersed in water.
