How to choose good, non-bitter avocados
- To buy good avocados, choose ones with a slightly brownish-green skin, with small natural dots or bumps on the surface.
- An avocado is ripe when it feels firm and heavy in your hand, and when you gently squeeze it, it feels soft. Hold the avocado near your ear and shake it gently; if it’s good, you will hear the seed rattling inside.
- You should avoid buying avocados that have many scratches on the skin, or that feel too soft or too hard when squeezed, as these are either overripe, nearing spoilage, or not yet ripe.
Distinguishing between cocoa powder and chocolate powder
- Cocoa powder is the powder made from the solid part of cocoa beans, processed through sun drying, drying, roasting, fine grinding, and pressing for butter.
- Chocolate powder is also made from cocoa beans but has additional ingredients such as milk, sugar, caramel, or other additives during production.
- Cocoa powder usually has a dark brown color, a bitter taste, and a slight sourness in the aftertaste, while chocolate powder can vary in light and dark brown colors and differing sweet and bitter flavors depending on the amount of sugar and milk powder used.
