Oatmeal 100 gr Apples 2 pieces Unsweetened milk 200 ml Sugar 1/4 teaspoon Honey 2 tablespoons Cinnamon powder 5 gr
How to choose fresh ingredients
How to choose good apples
- Fruits should feel heavy, firm, and have a characteristic aroma when ripe. Avoid choosing misshapen fruits.
- The apple’s skin should be free of insect bites, bruises, or blemishes. The color of the apple’s skin should be fresh and shiny.
- The stem of the apple should still be firmly attached. Choose apples of moderate size, avoiding those that are too large or too small, as they may have been treated with chemicals.
How to choose delicious oatmeal
- You should choose whole oats, which are usually coarse grains and not broken.
- You should buy oatmeal from reputable brands and sources.
How to prepare Apple and Honey Oatmeal
-
Prepare the apple
After purchasing the apples, you should rinse them with clean water and soak them in salt water for about 3 minutes to remove preservatives (or pesticides) still adhering to the skin.
Then, you proceed to shred the apple or cut each fruit into four pieces, remove the core with seeds, and slice them thinly.
Ways to prevent apples from browning
- Method 1: Soak for about 3 minutes in diluted lemon juice.
- Method 2: Soak for about 4 minutes in diluted salt water.
- Method 3: Use fruit fresh powder (a powdered mixture of citric acid and ascorbic acid) sprinkled on the apple after cutting.
- Method 4: Blanch the apple briefly after cutting, as boiling water will inhibit enzymes present in the apple, preventing them from coming into contact with outside air and causing browning.
-
Cook the oatmeal
You place a pot on the stove, add the oatmeal, and 150 ml of unsweetened milk into the pot, and boil for about 8 – 10 minutes on low heat until the oatmeal is soft (this recipe makes thick oatmeal since additional milk is added on top when serving, or if you prefer a thinner consistency, you can add a little water or milk if desired).
-
Cooking oatmeal porridge with apples
Add apples (leave a little for decoration), a bit of sugar, 5 grams of cinnamon powder to enhance the aroma, and 2 tablespoons of honey (leave a little for decoration) into the oatmeal porridge pot, then gently stir and cook for about 2 more minutes on low heat and turn off the stove.
-
Completion
Put the porridge in a bowl or dish, add a little shredded apple, a bit of honey, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a little unsweetened fresh milk around the surface of the porridge bowl.
-
Final Product
The oatmeal porridge with apples and honey can be enjoyed hot or cold; it tastes delicious with the creamy flavor of fresh milk combined with the sourness of apples and the distinct aroma of cinnamon powder, very tasty, right? Invite your family to enjoy!
Notes when cooking apple and honey oatmeal porridge
- Oatmeal is rich in nutrients and fiber, providing a feeling of fullness for a long time. To lose weight, you need to combine exercise, drink plenty of water, or consult a diet plan from a specialist or doctor!
- You should choose rolled oats, not finely ground oats, as they can be unappetizing.
- You should adjust the amount of water when cooking porridge to avoid it being too watery or too thick.
- For rolled oats, the ratio is 1 part oats to 5 parts water.
- For instant oats or broken oats, the recommended ratio is 1 part oats to 2 parts water.
