How to Cook Beef Stew

Marinate the beef
First, boil some water and dissolve 2 beef stew seasoning cubes in 100ml of boiling water. Soak for 5 minutes to let the beef stew seasoning dissolve in the water.
Prepare 800g of beef brisket, tendon, flank… for cooking beef stew. Mix the beef with 2 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of seasoning, 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, 1 teaspoon of pepper, 1 tablespoon of onion, 1 tablespoon of garlic, half a sliced ginger, along with the beef stew seasoning water.
Then, cut the tops off 8 – 10 stalks of lemongrass, crush them, and add the lemongrass to the beef mixture. Cover the bowl of beef with plastic wrap, store it in the refrigerator, and marinate for at least 4 hours for the beef to absorb the seasoning.

Sear the beef
Turn on the stove, select the Fry mode, at 1600W power, then place a pan on the stove. Pour in cooking oil and spread it evenly in the pan, take the beef out and put it in the pan to stir-fry until the beef is browned, then turn off the heat.

Stewed Beef
Put the beef into the rice cooker, add 1 pack of unsweetened fresh milk (equivalent to 200ml), 800ml of water, and stir well.
Next, press the Cook button and cook for 2 – 3 hours until the beef is tender. During the cooking process, if the water runs low, add more water.
Finally, cut the carrot into small pieces, wait until the beef is tender, then add the carrot to the pot, cover, and cook for an additional 15 – 20 minutes until the carrot is soft.
Tip:
- To give the beef a rich and beautiful color, add a little annatto oil to the meat.
- You can use a pressure cooker instead of a rice cooker, as the pressure cooker will soften the meat faster, taking only 20 – 40 minutes to cook.

Cooking the Stewed Beef
Dissolve 50g of cornstarch in 50ml of water. Remove some lemongrass and then add the bowl of cornstarch to the pot. Stir well and cover to cook for another 5 minutes. When the stewed beef sauce thickens, it can be served immediately.
