  • You should choose to buy sticky rice that is even, glossy, and has a milky white color. When you smell it, you should feel the light fragrant aroma of fresh sticky rice.
  • You can choose the golden flower sticky rice variety for making sticky rice, as this type has high stickiness and a special fragrance. Good sticky rice is when you taste the raw sticky rice grains, it will have a slightly sweet flavor.
  • You should buy sticky rice at reputable and quality stores or supermarkets. You can also purchase at the TasteVN store system or order sticky rice online at the website bachhoaxanh.com.
  • Do not buy sticky rice when you see the grains have turned light yellow or when you smell a strong odor, as this type may have been treated with chemicals.

How to choose fresh pork belly

  • Fresh pork belly has a dry outer layer, light red or bright pink color. When you cut it with a knife, you will see the meat has a pinkish-white color, slightly shiny, and the fat layer in between is bright white and firm.
  • To choose a good piece of meat that is not too greasy and not too dry because it consists mostly of lean meat, you should select a piece of meat with a balanced ratio of fat and lean meat.
  • Good, clean pork belly that is not raised with lean meat enhancers usually has a firm texture, with the meat and fat tightly connected, and when picked up, it does not feel too loose. The outer skin and fat layer should be moderately thick, about 1 – 1.5 finger joints.
  • Do not choose pieces of pork belly that have a rancid, foul smell, or any other strange odor. Instead, you should select meat with a characteristic aroma as it indicates fresh meat to ensure the quality of the dish.

How to choose fresh, quality chicken eggs

  • Eggshell: For industrial chicken eggs, you should choose those with dark brown shells, even color, no cracks, and no black spots. For free-range chicken eggs, you should select those that are pale, slightly white.
  • When you touch the surface of the egg and feel it is rough, slightly textured, then it is fresh chicken egg; if the surface is smooth, it has been stored for quite some time.
  • You hold the egg up to the light or sunlight, if you see a small air chamber, the yolk is round, balanced in the middle of the egg, has an orange or light pink color, and the white is clear, then it is a new chicken egg.
  • You should not choose eggs that show signs of cracked or dented shells. Additionally, if you gently shake it and hear a sound, then that egg has been stored for a long time.
