How to Make Cheese-Stuffed Sausage Pizza
-
Mix the dough
You put the flour, salt, yeast, olive oil, water, and honey into a large bowl and mix well.
Tip: If the weather is a bit dry, you can use a clean, damp cloth to cover the bowl to stimulate the formation of gluten strands in the dough, helping to enhance the flavor of the bread and also make it easier to knead the dough by hand.
-
Knead the dough
After mixing the dough, use a machine to knead the dough until it is smoother.
If you don’t have a dough kneading machine, use your hands to fold the dough and then use the palm of your hand to press and push the dough away. Note to press and push the dough away, not just press down; if you press down without pushing the dough away, the gluten strands in the dough will break, and the bread will not be good. Rotate the dough 90 degrees and repeat the two steps above.
After 15 – 20 minutes of kneading, if you press into the dough and see the dent bounce back and the dough does not stick to your hands, and it is smooth with good elasticity, the dough is ready. Finally, cover tightly and let the dough rest for 1 hour.
Tip: In the first 5 minutes, the dough may still be sticky and wet, but do not add more flour; just coat a thin layer of flour on the outside to easily knead the dough.
-
Roll and create the crust
You use a rolling pin to roll the dough very thin, then place the cheese stick on the edge of the dough, lift the dough up and press the crust firmly so that when baking, the cheese does not leak out.
Place the dough on a tray lined with parchment paper and use a fork to poke small holes so that the crust does not puff up like bread in the oven. You poke just enough not to tear the crust!
Tip: When the dough shows signs of shrinking while rolling, you should let it rest for about 5 minutes before continuing to shape. After rolling the dough thin (about 3mm), let it rest for another 15 – 20 minutes. If the weather is dry, cover it with a layer of plastic to prevent the dough from drying out.
-
Place the filling on the dough
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius for at least 30 minutes to ensure the oven is hot enough. Put the dough in the oven and bake for about 5 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius. Do not bake for too long, as the dough may become dry and hard.
When the crust is cooked, you spread tomato sauce over the surface of the dough, then add a layer of sliced sausage, and cover the surface completely with mozzarella cheese. Finally, you add another layer of sausage and decorate with mayonnaise and chili sauce.
-
Baking the pizza
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes. Then, bake the pizza for 10 minutes at the same temperature of 200 degrees Celsius.
-
Final product
Hot and fragrant pizza, with a rich layer of cheese and chewy sausage, bursting with flavor. If you like, you can enjoy it with plenty of chili sauce and mayonnaise, which will also be very delicious.
Tips for Successful Execution
- You should shape the dough by hand because the dough is wetter than rolling it out, resulting in a more delicious cake, and helps the dough have many uneven air bubbles.
- When baking, these air bubbles allow heat to disperse faster inside the crust, helping the crust become crispy quickly while still being moist, crunchy without being hard.
How to Store the Crust after Baking
- After baking, let the crust cool, then place it in a plastic bag, layering between each crust with a sheet of baking paper to prevent sticking, and store it in the freezer, which can be used for about a month.
- When eating, take the crust out, place the filling on top, and bake as usual.
