How to Make Peach Syrup
-
Prepare the Peaches
After buying, wash the peaches thoroughly, drain, cut in half, remove the pit, and peel the skin.
Soak the cut peaches in diluted salt water for 15 – 20 minutes to prevent them from turning black or bruising.
Remove the peaches, drain, and cut them into small cubes for better absorption.
Tip: You can also use diluted lemon juice to soak the peaches, which helps them stay fresh and attractive. -
Marinate the Peaches
After preparing, mix the peaches evenly with 600g of white granulated sugar, cover with plastic wrap, and let sit for about 1 hour for the sugar to dissolve and soak into the peaches.
-
Cook the syrup
After the sugar has melted and absorbed into the peaches, pour the mixture into a pot and cook over medium heat until it boils completely.
Reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer the mixture on low heat for 20 – 30 minutes until it thickens slightly, then turn off the heat and let it cool.
Tip:
- Cook on low heat to allow the peach syrup to thicken gradually; do not cook on high heat as it will make the syrup candy quickly, and the sugar may burn, affecting the flavor of the syrup.
- When the mixture is boiling, skimming off the foam will help the peach syrup stay clear and last longer.
-
Completion
When the mixture has cooled, use a sieve to strain the syrup. Pour the strained syrup and 300ml of water into a pot, cook over medium heat for about 3 – 5 minutes until the mixture boils, then turn off the heat and let it cool.
When the syrup has cooled, transfer it into a glass jar and store it in the refrigerator to complete.
Tip: It is advisable to keep the pulp of the syrup, which can be used directly or when drinking, mixing in a little will be very delicious.
-
Final Product
The peach syrup after completion has a light fragrant smell, very attractive and eye-catching color. Enjoying a glass of peach syrup on hot sunny days is unbeatable. Your whole family will surely love it.
How to Store Peach Syrup
- After cooking the syrup and letting it cool, store it in a glass jar, do not put it in a bottle because if you use a bottle and put it in the refrigerator, the sugar water shrinks, making it very difficult to use.
- Peach syrup can be used for about 3 months when stored in the refrigerator’s cool compartment. However, you should adjust the ingredients when cooking the syrup just enough for use, which will help the drink be more delicious and of better quality.
