How to make Heart-shaped Sponge Cake
-
Whip the butter
Put 180g of unsalted butter into a bowl, use a hand mixer, and whip at medium speed, gradually adding 180g of granulated sugar to mix together.
Then, add 3 eggs one by one into the mixture and mix until well blended and fluffy.
Tip:- Keep the unsalted butter at room temperature, not too soft, not melted, and then whip it until fluffy. The fluffier the butter, the softer and smoother the cake will rise.
- Divide the sugar into several portions so that the sugar and butter blend well!
-
Mix the red cake batter
You put 360g of all-purpose flour into a bowl, add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Then, you sift the flour into the whipped butter bowl, and use a spatula to mix from the bottom up to combine the flour.
Next, you add 5 tablespoons of unsweetened milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the bowl and mix well.
Finally, you add 3 drops of red food coloring to the mixture and stir well until the batter is colored.
-
Baking red sponge cake
Pour the batter into a rectangular cake mold (or any mold you have), gently tap the cake mold on the table to spread the batter evenly.
To stabilize the oven temperature, preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes, then place the cake in the oven and bake for about 35 – 40 minutes at 170 degrees Celsius.
Once the cake is done, take it out and let it cool at room temperature for about 10 minutes, then use a knife to cut along the edge of the cake to remove it from the mold.
Wrap the cake in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator to chill for about 30 minutes to firm it up.
-
Mixing vanilla sponge cake batter
Do the same as for the red cake batter, add 180g of unsalted butter to a bowl and use an electric mixer to beat at medium speed, then gradually add 180g of granulated sugar and mix together.
Next, add 3 eggs one at a time, beating until the mixture is well combined and fluffy.
Then sift in 180g of all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Use a spatula to fold the mixture from the bottom up until well combined, then add 5 tablespoons of unsweetened milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, mixing well.
-
Shape the heart cake
Take the red cake out of the refrigerator, use a knife to cut the cake into slices about 2 finger lengths.
Then use a heart-shaped mold to gently press onto the cake to create the heart-shaped cake pieces.
-
Baking Vanilla Cake
Pour 1/3 of the vanilla cake batter into a rectangular cake mold (or any mold you have) and gently spread the surface of the batter with a spatula.
To stabilize the oven temperature, preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes, then place the cake mold in to bake for about 7 minutes until the batter is slightly firm.
After that, remove the cake mold, add a spoonful of batter in the center of the mold, and place the heart-shaped cake piece that you cut on top. Finally, pour the remaining batter into the mold and use a spatula to spread it evenly.
Put the cake in the oven and bake for about 35 – 40 minutes at 170 degrees Celsius until the cake is cooked.
-
Making Lemon Sauce
Add 190g of powdered sugar into a bowl, then gradually add 50ml of lemon juice and mix thoroughly with a whisk until the mixture is well combined.
-
Product
Drizzle the lemon glaze evenly over the surface of the cake and let it set so you can enjoy it.
Use a knife to cut the cake into slices and invite your special someone to enjoy it together!
The cake is soft and fragrant with a light vanilla scent, covered with a sweet glaze on the outside, while the red heart shape in the middle of the cake stands out beautifully and sweetly, right?
How to store cake
