Ingredients for Banana Leaf Fish Cake For 2 people

Fish paste 300 gr Banana leaves 6 pieces Dill 3 sprigs Minced shallots 1 teaspoon Cooking oil 100 ml Common seasoning a little (Salt/ Pepper/ Seasoning powder)

How to choose fresh and delicious fish paste

  • For unprocessed fish paste, you should choose fish paste that is bright pink in color, and when touched, it feels sticky without being powdery.
  • Do not buy fish paste that shows signs of being slimy, with a smelly, unpleasant odor.
  • Additionally, to ensure that the fish paste does not contain borax, you can choose to buy fresh fish and ask the seller to scrape the fish meat for you or do it yourself at home.

How to Cook Banana Leaf-Wrapped Fish Cake

  • Marinate the fish cake

    Cut off the root of the dill, wash it clean, and then chop it finely.

    When you buy snakehead fish cake, mix it well with the chopped dill, 1 teaspoon of minced shallots, 1 teaspoon of seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and pepper for the flavors to soak in. Then, divide it into 6 equal parts and shape them into flat circles.

  • Steam the fish cake

    Place a steamer on the stove and add about 1 liter of water, boil for about 15 minutes until the water is boiling, then arrange the shaped fish cakes into the steamer and steam for about 5 minutes until cooked.

    Tip: To prevent the fish cakes from sticking to the steamer, you should apply a thin layer of cooking oil on the fish cakes before steaming.

  • Fry the fish cake

    Put a pan on the stove and add 100ml of cooking oil. When the oil is hot, drop the steamed fish cakes into the pan and fry over medium heat until both sides are golden brown, then remove and drain the oil.

    While the fish cakes are still hot, use banana leaves about the size of an A5 sheet (cleaned on both sides), roll them into a cone shape, and place the fish cake inside. Our dish is now complete.
