What is cocoa powder? Distinguishing between cocoa powder and chocolate powder
- Cocoa powder is a powder made from cocoa beans that undergo a strict production process to form a fine powder.
- Cocoa powder has a light brown color, a bitter taste, and a fragrant smell. If it is processed (alkalized), it will have a dark brown to slightly black color, a bitter taste but less than pure cocoa powder.
- Chocolate powder is also made from cocoa powder. However, during the production process, additional ingredients are added to create a sweet or bitter flavor.
- The color of chocolate powder also depends on the percentage of cocoa used. There are different types of chocolate depending on the amount of cocoa used. Additionally, chocolate is also produced in many different shapes.
