Ingredients for Ice Cream from Powdered Milk For 5 people
Powdered milk 100 gr Unsweetened fresh milk 250 ml Sugar 200 gr Cornstarch 2 tablespoons Vanilla extract 2 teaspoons
How to Choose Powdered Milk for Making Ice Cream
- You can choose any type of powdered milk, it doesn’t have to be a special type for ice cream. You can use baby powdered milk, regular powdered milk, or flavored powdered milk as well!
- Additionally, if you want your ice cream to be creamier and sweeter, you can use cream powder that is often used for making milk tea!
How to Make Ice Cream from Milk Powder
-
Cook the milk powder mixture
Pour 200ml of unsweetened fresh milk into a non-stick pan and heat over medium heat for about 2 – 3 minutes until the milk is slightly bubbling.
When the milk starts to boil, gradually add 200gr of sugar and 100gr of milk powder, and use a whisk to stir well until the milk powder and sugar dissolve completely without clumping.
Once the milk powder mixture is well combined, reduce to the lowest heat and continue to stir.
Tip: You should use a non-stick pan instead of a pot to avoid the milk powder mixture burning, which can cause it to stick to the sides or bottom of the pot when boiling. -
Stir the cornstarch and milk mixture
At this step, first, you stir 50ml of remaining unsweetened fresh milk evenly with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch.
Next, you add this cornstarch mixture to the milk mixture that is being cooked in the pan and stir well.
Finally, you add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract to the pan and continue to stir until the mixture thickens, becomes heavier, and large bubbles appear, then turn off the heat.
-
Pour into molds and freeze
After cooking the powdered milk mixture, let it cool slightly, then pour it into ice pop molds or small paper cups, and then place them in the freezer for 5 – 6 hours, and you can enjoy it!
Tip: If you use small paper cups as molds for the ice cream, wrap a piece of aluminum foil over the top of the cup and insert a wooden stick in the middle! -
