Distinguishing between regular green tea powder and matcha (Japanese green tea powder)

  • Matcha powder is a fine powder made from 100% young tea buds. This type of powder differs significantly from green tea powder in terms of nutritional value and price, as green tea powder is made only from 30% young tea buds and the remaining 70% from young tea leaves.
  • Matcha powder has a bright green color and a sweet bitter aftertaste, unlike green tea powder, which is dark green, can be slightly yellowish, and has a bitter astringent taste.
  • You can buy matcha powder at baking supply stores, supermarkets, or on e-commerce websites.
