Steamed buns, also known as sweet buns, are usually unfilled, very easy to make, and do not require much effort. Let’s go to the kitchen to discover the recipe for making buns for the family to enjoy!

Ingredients for Making Steamed Buns Serves 4 people

Wheat flour 500 gr Yeast 5 gr Baking powder 1 gr (baking powder) Granulated sugar 50 gr Water 300 ml

Note: You can use 500 grams of ready-made steamed bun flour with yeast to replace the flours mentioned above; it will make your baking process easier.

How to Make Steamed Buns

  • Making the Dough

    Add 500 grams of flour, 5 grams of yeast, and 1 gram of baking powder into a large bowl, and mix well. Gradually add 300 ml of warm water and knead the dough, adding 50 grams of sugar and continue kneading until it forms a smooth, elastic dough that does not stick to your hands.

    Cover the dough to prevent dust. Let it rise for about 2 hours.

    Take the dough out and knead it lightly.

    Divide it into equal portions, shape them into circles, and let them rest for another 30-45 minutes to rise.

    Place a cloth in the steamer. Boil water in the steamer, place the buns in and steam for 20 minutes until they are cooked and ready to serve.

    Note: You can lightly poke the bun with a toothpick. If the dough does not stick to the toothpick, the bun is done.

    These steamed buns have a soft, fluffy texture with a hint of sweetness, making them easy to eat and often used during vegetarian days. This dish will surely enrich your family’s breakfast menu.

Tips for successful execution

You should prepare the ingredients in the right proportions to make the cake fluffy and soft.

You can replace water with milk or use both water and milk (ensuring 300 ml) to make the cake richer and more fragrant.

You can also add pandan leaf juice, butterfly pea flower juice, vanilla, etc., to create more colors and diverse flavors for the cake.

If you have leftovers, you can put the cake in a food container and seal it tightly, storing it in the refrigerator for about 2 days. When using, you just need to steam it again.
