Cooking oil 1 tablespoon Minced meat 100 gr Carrot 50 gr (diced) Radish 50 gr (diced) Shiitake mushrooms 18 gr (chopped) Dried shrimp 15 gr Oyster sauce 20 gr Mai Quế Lộ wine 10 ml Sesame oil 1/2 teaspoon Cornstarch 5 gr Seasoning a little (salt/sugar/pepper/seasoning powder) Chopped green onion 5 gr

How to Make Savory Meat-Filled Glutinous Rice Balls

  • Sauté the filling

    Heat a pan on the stove, add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, 100g minced meat, 50g carrot, 50g radish, 18g shiitake mushrooms, 15g dried shrimp, 20g oyster sauce, 10ml Mai Quế Lộ wine, 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil, a bit of salt, and a bit of sugar.

    Stir well over medium heat until the ingredients are blended and cooked evenly.

    Then, add 5g cornstarch, a bit of pepper, and 5g chopped green onion, stir well once more and then turn off the heat.

  • Mix the dough

    Put 200g glutinous rice flour, a bit of sugar, a bit of salt, and 170ml warm water into a bowl. Use your hands to mix well until the dough forms a smooth and pliable ball.

  • Shape the balls

    Take a small amount of dough, roll it into a ball, flatten it, place the filling in the center, then gather the edges of the dough and roll it into a ball.

  • Boil the cake

    Put a pot of water on the stove, add the cake and boil until it floats to the surface of the water.

    Then, add a little salt, a little seasoning, and a little sugar to finish.

    Tip to recognize when the cake is cooked: You boil it until the cake floats to the top of the water, and it is done.

    Serve the cake in a bowl with the broth, sprinkle with chopped green onions and enjoy while it’s still hot!
