Prepare the red tilapia fish
After purchasing the red tilapia, to clean and remove the fishy smell, you should gut the fish, remove all the internal organs, wash it, and rub it with salt for about 10 minutes.
Then rinse it thoroughly with water and cut it into thick slices about 2 finger joints wide.
How to clean red tilapia fish properly, without fishy smell
- First, clean the fish by scaling and gutting it thoroughly. Make sure to cut away any clotted blood and the cloudy white parts in the belly of the fish.
- Eliminate the fishy smell by rubbing coarse salt on the fish for about 10 minutes and then rinsing it with water. Additionally, you can dilute lemon juice and a bit of salt in water and soak the fish pieces for about 10 minutes before rinsing.
- You can also use vinegar or white wine to wash the fish, which will help eliminate the fishy smell very effectively!
