How to prepare Vegetarian Roasted Duck

Prepare the ingredients
Soak the fried tofu in water for 10 minutes to soften it after purchasing.
Boil the fried tofu in boiling water for 3 – 5 minutes. Then cut it in half horizontally.
Slice the king oyster mushrooms lengthwise into pieces about 1 cm thick.
Chop the onion and garlic finely.

Prepare the marinade sauce
Add half of the chopped onion and garlic into a bowl, then add about 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of roasted sesame, 1 teaspoon of five-spice powder, 1 tablespoon of Chinese rice wine, 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of char siu marinade, and 1 tablespoon of vegetarian oyster sauce. Mix the ingredients well.

Marinate the vegetarian duck
Use a spoon to pour the marinade mixture over both sides of the tofu pieces. Sauté the mushrooms in a pan over medium heat for 5 minutes to allow them to release moisture.
Place the mushrooms on the marinated tofu and continue to add the sauce on top of the mushrooms, then turn everything evenly and marinate the tofu and mushrooms for 30 minutes.

Wrap the vegetarian duck
Place a piece of tofu skin evenly on a flat surface, then sprinkle 1 tablespoon of tapioca flour on top.
Pick up the marinated tofu, placing the outer side (the frying side) of the tofu down, then layer mushrooms on top. Use your hands to wrap the piece of vegetarian duck, ensuring that the tofu skin is tightly secured.

Fry the vegetarian duck
Heat a pan with oil about 1 cm deep, then add the piece of vegetarian duck and fry until golden brown and crispy over low heat.

Prepare the sauce and presentation
Sauté the onion and garlic until golden, then add 1 tablespoon of chili sauce, followed by the marinade for the mushrooms and tofu, mixing well. When the sauce thickens and changes color, add the remaining mixture of sugar and vegetarian seasoning and mix well.
After frying the duck, cut it into bite-sized pieces, then arrange it on a plate, garnish with coriander and chili, and finally drizzle the prepared sauce over the duck skin and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
