Snow fungus 20 g Ripe papaya 400 g Rock sugar 100 g Filtered water 6 cups Dried apple 1 tablespoon Sweet almonds 1 cup (rice bowl)

How to Cook Snow Fungus and Papaya Dessert

  • Prepare the ingredients

    Soak the snow fungus in water for about 30 – 60 minutes. When the fungus expands and softens, remove it and cut off the stems. Then chop it into small pieces and rinse clean.

    Peel the papaya and cut it into bite-sized cubes.

    Soak the almonds in water for about 15 minutes. Then rinse them clean and let them drain.

  • Cooking the dessert

    Place a pot of water on the stove, then add the snow fungus and almonds, cooking on low heat until boiling. When the water boils, add the rock sugar.

    Cook until you see the sugar completely dissolved, then add the papaya. At this moment, you can also add 1 tablespoon of dried apple together with the papaya to enhance the flavor of the dessert. After that, boil for about another 10 minutes before turning off the stove.

    After turning off the stove, do not open the lid immediately; let it sit like that for another 10 minutes. This helps the dessert achieve the right consistency.

    The snow fungus dessert can be enjoyed with shaved ice or placed in the refrigerator until cold, which is also very appealing.

Some notes when cooking snow fungus dessert

  • Almonds can be replaced with lotus seeds. These ingredients are both very easy to find in the market. Because both types, when combined with snow fungus, will help detoxify the body, cleanse the lungs, and benefit the respiratory system.
  • You can use ripe soft papaya instead of medium ripe papaya, but do not put it in the cooking pot. Just add the pre-cut ripe soft papaya to the bowl of snow fungus dessert when eating.
