How to cook braised beef using a pressure cooker
-
Braised beef
Fry the onion, sauté the vegetables until they are slightly golden.
Add a little beef broth to prevent the pot from burning.
Add the beef to the pot along with the remaining broth and 500ml of water. Add bay leaves and other seasonings.
Close the pressure cooker lid, turn the heat to high until you hear the steam escaping. At that point, immediately reduce to the lowest setting to maintain pressure in the pot and let it simmer for 12 minutes.
-
Complete the dish
After 12 minutes, quickly release the steam to reduce the pressure in the pot without significantly lowering the temperature of the food. When the pressure cooker indicates that the pressure has dropped, you can open the pot.
Add all the remaining ingredients: potatoes, carrots, sliced onions, and celery.
Cover the pot again and turn the heat to high. Once the pot starts boiling, reduce the heat and let it cook for 4 minutes.
After 4 minutes, turn off the heat and allow the pressure cooker to cool by self-releasing steam – this process takes about 10 minutes.
To thicken the braised beef broth, mix 2 tablespoons of flour with a little water, adding salt and pepper to a separate bowl. Stir this mixture into the broth to thicken it. You can then heat the pot for a while to make the broth thicker or add more flour or water to the mixture as needed.
