  • When held, they feel notably firm, not too light, and when pressed, they feel sturdy, not too soft or bruised.
  • Additionally, you should avoid buying large pumpkins that are too light in weight as they are mostly hollow, and will not taste good.

How to choose fresh minced meat

  • Depending on your preference, you can buy pre-minced meat or buy a whole piece of pork to mince or grind using a meat grinder as well!
  • Fresh minced meat is bright pink in color, possibly mixed with a little white fat, not too dark or turning any unusual colors.
  • When touched, the meat feels soft, has good elasticity, and is not too dry or slimy.
  • You should limit buying minced meat when you can smell a strong, fishy odor, as this may indicate that the minced meat has been left too long and is no longer edible.

How to make Pumpkin Soup with Pork

  • Bake the pumpkin

    First, wash the pumpkin under running water to remove any dirt, then let it drain.

    Next, place the pumpkin on a plate and put it in the microwave, baking for about 10 minutes, until the outer skin turns golden and the pumpkin is soft, then turn off the microwave and take out the pumpkin.

    Tip: If you don’t have a microwave, you can steam the pumpkin or cook the soup directly, but this will take more time.

    After baking the pumpkin, use a knife to cut off the stem, then cut the pumpkin into four pieces. Next, use a spoon to remove the seeds.

    Next, you put a pot on the stove with 700ml of water, add all the minced pork and prepared pumpkin, and use a ladle to stir well so that the pork does not clump together, then cook over high heat for about 10 – 15 minutes.

    When the soup boils, you reduce to medium heat, then season with 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of sesame oil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, use a ladle to stir well and continue to cook for another 10 minutes.
