How to choose fresh ingredients

How to choose fresh pork belly

  • You should choose pork belly pieces that have a light pink color, and when you touch them, they should have a certain level of elasticity and not be mushy.
  • Choose pieces of meat that have a good mix of fat and meat so that when eaten, the meat is not too greasy from excess fat or too dry from too much meat.
  • Do not buy pieces of meat that have a bluish color, have bruises, and have a strong unpleasant smell. This indicates that the meat has been stored for a long time, is no longer fresh, or that the pig died from illness before being slaughtered.

How to choose delicious kimchi

  • Choose kimchi that has a natural orange-red color, and when smelling, it should have an enticing aroma of spices like ginger, onion, garlic, etc.
  • Good kimchi when eaten will have a sweet, spicy, salty taste from natural ingredients, and the napa cabbage should still be crunchy, not mushy or tough.
  • Do not choose kimchi that has an unusual foul smell as it may have mold, fermented beyond expiration, which is not good for the digestive system.
  • If it’s pre-packaged kimchi, prioritize buying from trusted brands, pay attention to the expiration date, and ensure the product is intact, not punctured or torn, or the packaging is not broken.
  • Additionally, to ensure health safety and save costs, you can completely make kimchi at home for later use!
