How to Cook Rice with an Electric Pressure Cooker
-
Rinse the Rice
Add enough water to cover the rice, gently shake the pot, and then drain the rinsing water. Repeat this step 2 – 3 times to clean the rice of dust and impurities.
Note: You should not rub the rice with your hands when rinsing as it will cause the rice to lose vitamins and nutrients! -
Measure water and cook rice
Add the rinsed rice and pour in an additional 500ml of cold water into the pot, gently shake to evenly spread the rice, then cover the pot and securely lock the pressure valve.
On the pressure cooker, choose the “Rice” or “Cook rice” mode depending on the type of cooker you are using! At this point, you just need to wait for the pot to cook automatically.
After cooking is done, before opening the pot, to avoid hot steam burning your hands, remember to carefully release the pot’s valve to let all the pressure steam escape. When you are sure all the steam has been released, you can open the lid, use chopsticks to fluff the rice, and you’re all set!
Tip:- For some electric pressure cookers that do not have a rice cooking function, you can select the regular cooking function and choose to cook at high pressure! At TasteVN, there are many types of electric pressure cookers with rice cooking functions for you to choose from!
- If after cooking the rice you do not use it immediately, to keep the rice warm, you can select the “Keep Warm” or “Warm” mode and just cover the pressure cooker lid again!
