Soak and Steam Sticky Rice
First, soak the sticky rice in water for about 4 hours before cooking so that the rice becomes soft and easy to steam. Then, rinse the sticky rice thoroughly and let it drain.
Next, place the sticky rice in the steaming basket of the rice cooker, placing a layer of banana leaves underneath. When the water in the rice cooker is boiling, add the steaming basket with the sticky rice and 2 pandan leaves, then close the lid.
After steaming for 15 minutes, add 80ml of coconut milk to the steaming basket of the rice cooker.
Next, add 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of salt mixed with a little water into the basket, use chopsticks to stir well for the rice to absorb the seasoning. Steam the sticky rice for an additional 15 minutes, then remove it from the basket and let it cool.
Tip:
- Another way to steam sticky rice is to use a specialized steaming pot.
- During steaming, add pandan leaves to give the rice a fragrant aroma.
