How to prepare Spicy Beef Hot Pot

  • Prepare the ingredients

    First, with 400 grams of beef you bought, rinse it briefly with 2 tablespoons of vinegar diluted for 1 – 2 minutes, then rinse again with clean water, let it drain or use a clean dry cloth to wipe the surface, and use a knife to slice it thinly for eating.

    Peel the onion, then cut it into wedges. For the lemongrass, remove the root, wash it directly under running water until clean, let it drain, then peel and chop it finely along with the garlic. Finally, for the chili, remove the stem and chop it finely.

    • Method 1: You can soak the beef in rice wine for 15 minutes, then rinse it several times with clean water.
    • Method 2: Alternatively, you can use a mixture of lemon and vinegar to rub all over the meat for a few minutes.

  • Cooking Saté Soup

    After preparing the ingredients, you place a pot on the stove with 2 tablespoons of cooking oil over medium heat. When the oil starts to bubble, add 1 teaspoon of annatto oil, all the prepared lemongrass, garlic, and chili into the pot, and sauté for about 2 – 3 minutes.

    Next, add 1 tablespoon of fermented shrimp paste, stir well with chopsticks, then pour in 500ml of water, and cook for 10 – 15 minutes.

    When the water boils, season with 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of monosodium glutamate, 1/3 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 tablespoon of fish sauce, stirring well once more.

    Finally, taste and adjust the seasoning, then add 1 onion cut into wedges, cook for another 2 – 3 minutes before dipping the beef in and enjoying!
