How to choose fresh oranges
- You should choose oranges that are bright orange in color, plump, and feel firm when held.
- Oranges should have an even color, and the surface should not have any black or white spots. When gently squeezing the surface, aromatic essential oils should be released.
- Do not buy oranges that have a strange smell, feel light when held, or are soft and mushy as they may have been stored for too long and spoiled.

How to make Chewy Orange Coconut Candy
-
Prepare and cook the orange juice mixture
After purchasing, wash the oranges, drain them, squeeze out the juice, use a sieve to remove the seeds, and place it in a container.
Pour all the orange juice into a pot, add 2 teaspoons of white sugar, 2 teaspoons of cornstarch, and stir well until the sugar and starch dissolve completely.
Place the pot on the stove, set to low heat, and cook the mixture for about 10 – 15 minutes until it thickens, then turn off the heat.
Tip: During the cooking process of the orange juice mixture, stir continuously to prevent the mixture from clumping or burning, which would affect the flavor of the candy. -
Pour the jelly mixture into molds
Use a brush to evenly coat a thin layer of vegetable oil on the bottom of the glass container.
Slowly pour the cooked orange juice mixture into the container (do not cover it), then place the container in the refrigerator for 3 – 4 hours for the jelly to set.
-
Make the orange coconut jelly
When the orange juice mixture has set, take the container out of the refrigerator, use a knife to cut it into bite-sized squares. Gently remove the jelly from the mold and roll it in a layer of dry coconut flour until the coconut covers the jelly completely.
Plate it up, and you can enjoy it right away.
