  • Oats are a type of food made from whole grains, scientifically named Avena sativa.
  • Oats contain a lot of protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, and important antioxidant phytochemicals. This food has a wonderful effect in helping to lower cholesterol levels and protect LDL Cholesterol, control blood sugar levels, and effectively assist in weight loss.
  • With a characteristic white color tinged with yellow, a bland but fragrant taste, oats are a preferred food for vegetarians to supplement their daily breakfast.
  • You can easily find oats at stores selling baking ingredients or on reputable e-commerce websites.

How to choose fresh and delicious spinach

  • Choose green, fresh bunches that still have roots.
  • Avoid selecting spinach with broken, bruised, or spoiled stems and leaves.
  • Choose spinach with bright green leaves, not too dark, as these are younger greens that contain many nutrients.

How to make Oat Waffles

  • Blend oats and greens

    Add 140g of oats to the blender and blend until the oats turn into fine powder, then transfer to a bowl.

    Tip: To save time, you can look for pre-ground pure oat flour at baking ingredient stores, supermarkets, or reputable e-commerce sites.

    For the spinach, remove any yellow leaves and pests (if any), then soak in salt water for about 5 – 10 minutes, rinse with clean water, drain, and chop finely.

    Add the spinach to the blender along with 3 tablespoons of unsweetened milk, then blend until the spinach is very smooth.

  • Mix the batter

    Pour the blended spinach mixture into the bowl of oatmeal flour. Crack in 2 eggs and use a spoon to mix well until the ingredients are fully combined and the batter is smooth.

    Next, add 50ml of unsweetened fresh milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 2 tablespoons of honey, then continue to stir until the ingredients are well incorporated.

  • Pouring the batter

    Preheat the waffle maker for about 5 – 10 minutes.

    When you start cooking, open the lid and use a brush to apply a thin layer of olive oil on the surface of the mold.

    Take a ladle of batter and pour a sufficient amount into the machine, then spread it evenly. Close the mold and cook for 4 – 6 minutes depending on the type of machine. After the waffle is cooked, remove it from the mold and place it on a plate.

    Repeat these steps until all the prepared batter is used up!

  • Product

    Cut the waffle into bite-sized pieces, place it on a plate, add some fruit, and drizzle 1 tablespoon of honey on top, then decorate to make it visually appealing to complete.

How to store waffle:

  • To ensure the quality of the cake, you should consume it within the day (keep it outside for 10 – 12 hours in cool weather).
  • If you do not finish it, you need to let the cake cool completely, then use a plastic bag to seal it tightly or a closed container and place it in the refrigerator. When using, reheat it in the oven for about 3 – 4 minutes to restore its crispiness almost like when it was freshly made.
  • Note, do not wrap it too tightly as it will cause the cake to flatten.
