  • When buying lettuce, you should choose heads that have bright green leaves, when tightly rolled will have a light fragrance, with long and thick stems.
  • Additionally, clean lettuce (not treated with pesticides) usually has dark green leaves on the outside, with the inner layers being light green or white, gradually fading.
  • Do not choose lettuce with wilted leaves, stems starting to turn yellow and emitting a slight odor as these are heads of lettuce that have been stored for too long or may have been treated with chemicals, are decaying.

How to choose fresh and delicious tomatoes

  • Naturally ripe tomatoes have a shiny, plump skin and a bright red color. If you look closely, you will see specks of juice in the flesh through the skin. When cut open, you will find bright red flesh with golden seeds.
  • Choose tomatoes that feel firm in your hand, with fresh green stems that are tightly attached to the body, as these are usually naturally ripe tomatoes.
  • Avoid choosing tomatoes that are overripe; if you gently press on them and they feel soft, they are likely to be bruised easily.
  • Compared to naturally ripe tomatoes, chemically treated tomatoes usually lack aroma, are not red, and are quite hard. When cooked, they take a long time to soften, have little pulp, and a pale red color.

    Next, wash the tomatoes, remove the seeds, and chop them finely.

    For the onion, peel, wash, and dice it.

    • Chill the onions in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Make the dressing

    Put a pan on the stove, add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and heat it up. When the oil is hot, add the onion and sauté it for about 10 seconds over medium heat.

    Next, add: minced tomatoes, 1.5 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of vegetarian oyster sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of vegetarian seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon of monosodium glutamate, 1 tablespoon of chili sauce, and 1 tablespoon of ketchup. Stir the mixture well to combine the seasonings, taste to adjust, then turn off the heat and sprinkle the chopped green onions on top.
