- The chicken should not have any signs of leaking water or strange smells. Additionally, the skin should be thin, fresh, and smooth, possibly with a little white or slightly yellow fat.

How to Cook Chicken with Basil Leaves
-
Prepare the Chicken
To clean the chicken and reduce its odor, rinse the chicken briefly and then soak it in diluted salt water for 15 minutes to remove all dirt. After that, take the chicken out, rinse it with fresh water 2-3 more times, cut it into bite-sized pieces, and let it drain.
Tip: You can add a little salt or crushed ginger, and a bit of white wine to soak the chicken for about 5 minutes, then rinse it clean and let it drain.

-
Marinate the Chicken
Place the chicken in a dish (or bowl), then add 1/2 tablespoon of minced onion, 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of minced ginger, 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, 1 teaspoon of seasoning powder, and 1 teaspoon of ground pepper.
Mix well so that the chicken absorbs the seasoning and marinate the chicken for about 20 minutes.
-
Sauté the chicken
Add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil to a hot pan, add all the chopped onions and garlic to sauté until fragrant, then add the chicken and stir-fry for about 3 minutes until the meat changes color.
Add 1 tablespoon of fish sauce and 1 teaspoon of seasoning powder, and you should adjust the seasoning to suit your family’s taste. Simmer the chicken on low heat for about 7 – 8 minutes.
Tip: To make the chicken really tender, juicy, and absorb the seasoning better, when the chicken is slightly browned, cover the pan for about 3 minutes to let the chicken release its juices, then uncover and simmer the chicken on low heat.
-
Braised chicken with basil
When the chicken is cooked and the water has reduced, add 100g of basil leaves and stir-fry for about 2 minutes, then continue to add another 100g of chopped basil leaves and stir-fry for an additional 2 minutes, then turn off the heat!
-
Final Product
The braised chicken is fragrant with the scent of basil leaves, bites of tender and delicious chicken, evenly absorbed spices, and dipping it in spicy fish sauce served with rice will be extremely delicious.
