How to choose good fried tofu without gypsum

  • When buying pre-fried tofu, you should choose pieces that are bright yellow, and when pressed, they feel soft and smooth.
  • Choose fried tofu when you can smell a light aroma of soybeans, with no strange odors.
  • Do not buy pre-fried tofu that is dark yellow as they may have been fried in dirty oil or old oil.
  • Do not purchase tofu that feels hard when pressed lightly, or has no smell or has a sour odor.

  • Prepare the Ingredients

    Fry the tofu until golden, cut into 4 or 6 small square pieces for easy eating, then place them in a bowl. Prepare 1/2 cup of soy sauce.

    Add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil to a pot and heat it on the stove. When the oil is hot, add 1/2 cup of soy sauce and cook for 3 minutes over medium heat.

    Next, add the tofu and stir well, season with: 1 teaspoon of seasoning powder, 1 teaspoon of monosodium glutamate, and 4 tablespoons of sugar.

    Stir well and braise for about 5 minutes until the tofu absorbs the seasoning and the soy sauce thickens, then turn off the heat.

    Tip: If you don’t like it sweet, you can reduce the amount of sugar added.

    You mix 150 grams of crispy frying flour with 100 ml of water, stirring well.

  • Fry the tofu

    You put a pan on the stove, add about 350 ml of cooking oil to the pan. Wait until the oil is hot, then add the tofu coated with flour to fry on low heat.
