Ingredients for Vegetarian Pig Intestines For 15 pieces
Tofu leaves 100 gr White tofu 100 gr Wood ear mushrooms 30 gr
How to choose fresh and delicious white tofu
- You should note that good tofu will always have a creamy white color. In contrast, tofu with gypsum usually has a yellower color; the more yellow it is, the more gypsum it contains. Therefore, you should avoid buying pieces of tofu that are yellow or yellowish.
- If you touch the tofu and it feels soft and light, you should buy it. Pieces of tofu that are heavy, firm, slightly hard, and square should not be purchased.
- Pure tofu will have a fragrant smell, while tofu with gypsum will have a smell of lime or no smell at all.
- Good tofu will have the characteristic fatty taste of soybeans, while tofu containing a lot of gypsum will have a bitter taste.
How to make Vegan Pork Intestines with Tendons
-
Mix the Tofu
Soak the wood ear mushrooms in cold water until soft, then cut into small strips.
Before preparing, the white tofu should be drained of excess water, add 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, a little salt, 1 teaspoon of seasoning powder, and all the cut wood ear mushrooms, then mix thoroughly for about 10 minutes.
Note:
- The tofu should be thoroughly drained; the drier it is, the chewier the vegan intestines will be after cooking.
- You can mash the tofu with a spoon first, then add the wood ear mushrooms and seasonings, and use your hands to knead and mix well. The more evenly you knead the ingredients, the chewier the mixture will become.

Vegetarian Pork Sausage
Use a spoon to take a sufficient amount of filling and spread it thinly over 1/2 piece of tofu skin. Then place it on a bamboo stick and start rolling the tofu skin up; the bamboo stick helps create the core inside and assists you in shaping the vegetarian pork sausage more easily.
Wrap a layer of banana leaves around the outside, then use string to tie it securely in a spiral, both securing the outer layer and creating spiral lines similar to real pork intestines.
Do the same until all remaining ingredients are used up.
Tip:
- The tofu skin should be rinsed briefly with clean water and dried thoroughly before processing. Do not soak the tofu skin directly in water as it will become too soft, crumbly, and easily break apart.
- When spreading the filling on the tofu skin, you should spread a very thin and even layer to make the dish tastier.
- The banana leaves should be dried in the sun beforehand to achieve a certain elasticity, making it much easier to roll.
- You should roll the outer layer of banana leaves tightly to help the filling inside be round and beautiful!
-
Steamed Vegan Pork Intestines
Place a steamer pot on the stove, put all the vegan pork intestines in to steam for about 10 minutes, then you can take them out.
Note: Depending on the size when wrapping, you can adjust the steaming time accordingly. The suitable time for the ingredients to cook evenly is from 10 to 15 minutes!
-
Final Product
The steamed vegan pork intestines can be served directly with salt, pepper, and lime, chili sauce, or used as an ingredient for delicious dishes such as stir-frying, braising, etc. When eaten, you will feel the chewy texture on the outside, crunchy and soft on the inside, extremely appealing. Enjoy right away!
