How to choose fresh ingredients

How to choose fresh lemon balm

  • Choose leaves that are bright green, with a thick, firm, crispy, and juicy surface, and round serrated edges.
  • It is best to select young leaves that still have fine hairs on the surface and have a distinctive lemon scent.
  • Avoid choosing bruised, wilted leaves, or those showing signs of pest damage.

How to choose fresh chives

  • Choose chive leaves that are dark green, smooth, and have a light, distinctive aroma.
  • Avoid selecting bruised or wilted chive leaves, or those showing signs of pest damage.
  • To buy fresh, high-quality chives, you should purchase from reputable grocery stores or supermarkets.

How to choose fresh kumquats

  • You should choose kumquats that are yellow or yellow-green, with shiny skin.
  • At the same time, when you squeeze them, they should be soft and easy to squeeze; avoid choosing those that are hard when squeezed as they may be wilted and have lost a lot of moisture.
  • You should not choose fruits with wrinkled skin, tiny black spots, or those that are bruised.
