How to Make Passion Fruit Syrup
-
Prepare the Passion Fruit
When you buy passion fruit, wash it thoroughly, cut it in half, and use a spoon to scoop out the pulp into a bowl.
-
Strain passion fruit
Prepare a large bowl and a strainer, then add the extracted passion fruit pulp and strain it through the sieve by using a spoon to press down evenly so that the passion fruit juice flows into the bowl.
After that, put the pulp back into another bowl, add about 200ml of water, and stir well to dissolve the remaining juice stuck in the pulp, and strain the passion fruit pulp again.
Repeat the process about 2 – 3 times until the passion fruit pulp only has seeds left and the amount of passion fruit juice obtained is about 500ml, then stop.
Tip: To easily strain the passion fruit juice, after straining through the sieve once, you can put the passion fruit pulp into the blender with 500ml of water, run the machine at a low speed for about 10 seconds, and then strain to extract the juice. -
Cooking syrup
Add passion fruit juice and 500g of sugar into a pot, stir well until the sugar dissolves.
Then, place the pot on the stove, simmer the syrup mixture over low heat, stirring continuously until it boils for about 5 minutes, then turn off the heat and let it cool completely.
Tip:
- To make the passion fruit syrup tastier, you can adjust the amount of sugar according to your family’s taste.
- Additionally, to keep the syrup clear and preserve it longer, you should regularly skim off the foam while cooking.
-
Final product
The passion fruit syrup when cooked will have a very beautiful orange-yellow color. The syrup is made with a 1:1 ratio, so it is quite sweet; when using, you should mix it with plain water and a little ice for better taste.

Note: To achieve a nice color for the syrup, do not cook it over high heat.
-
Final Product
The passion fruit syrup will have an attractive fragrant aroma and a beautiful bright yellow color after completion. When drinking, you just need to add a little ice cubes to enjoy the mild sweet and sour taste of this beverage.
Additionally, you can also mix passion fruit syrup into passion fruit soda or enjoy it with shaved ice and yogurt, which is also great!
How to Choose Fresh and Delicious Passion Fruits
- Good passion fruits will be ripe ones with smooth, shiny skin, looking plump and large.
- When held, they feel heavy, have a moderate firmness, are not spongy or too soft, and have a mild, pleasant aroma.
- Another little tip to choose good passion fruits is to observe the color of the fruit. The darker the fruit, the riper it will be, and the better the taste.
- Avoid choosing passion fruits that have strange smells, uneven colors, or are uniformly colored but greenish-purple or greenish-yellow. These are not fresh or may not be ripe, having a very sour taste and little juice.
How to preserve passion fruit syrup
- After cooking the passion fruit syrup, you should let it cool completely and store it in a glass jar with a tight lid in the refrigerator! This method will help the passion fruit syrup be preserved for about 1 month!
- However, note that when using a glass jar to store passion fruit, you should ensure the jar is very clean by washing it with water and then briefly scalding it with boiling water to disinfect it!
- Additionally, you should limit the use of plastic bottles to store passion fruit syrup in the refrigerator. Because the sugar in the syrup can caramelize and make it difficult to retrieve and use.
